Glass Coating

Glass lighting gels in front of displays or mounts must be more than merely transparent. This applies to both lenses in the visible spectrum, as well as laser wavelengths in the near infrared range.

With sputtered layers and films, many additional functions can be combined with the glass or the glass laminate:

  • Anti-reflective coatings
  • Partially reflective coatingsHigh-reflection coatings
  • Anti-static layers
  • EM protective coatings
  • Transmission-reducing coatings

Glass is suitable as a base for all types of coating. Coating with thin layers by means of high vacuum sputtering or evaporation is an essential component of many applications. Film can also be used for the application of coating. This allows almost any desired combination of layers to be applied to glass or safety glass, as well combination with laminates.

Anti-reflective Coatings

Many optical systems can only provide the required performance with the use of Anti-reflective coatings. This is true of optics in the visible spectrum, but also – and especially – for laser wavelengths in the near infrared range.

Lenses tempered with Anti-reflective coatings are also used in entertainment electronics (in CD and DVD players, for example) as well as in CD-ROM drives.

High-reflection Coatings

EuropTec is the exclusive processor and supplier of front surface mirrors (reflection 94 and 98%) from Cardinal Glass. These mirrors are used in large and small formats, particularly for optical equipment such as scanners, copiers and projection TVs.

EuropTec is a leading specialist in the application of these coatings to 3D plastic lenses with high reflection gold or gold combination layers. Areas of use: scanners, CD readers and DVD readers.

EuropTec is a recognized partner of the 3M company.

Metal Coatings (EMC)

Transparent metal coatings, based on various metals such as silver, gold, titanium oxide etc., provide transparent protection against electromagnetic radiation through increased conductivity, as well as through the use of metal layers on glass for electrostatic discharge or in applications as a heating coating on glass.

In addition, combined with various types of metallized mesh structures in a glass–glass or a glass–plastic laminate, these layers can be used as shielding from high radiation intensity.

Our layer has 0.8 Ohm/sqm – several kOhms/sqm.

EuropClean

All coated and uncoated glasses can be provided with a hydrophobic layer. This causes water to roll off the glass and makes it easier to clean (wisp & clean).
